The summer training season is quickly approaching!
All Summer Training Documents have been uploaded to the squadron website under Summer Training. All important information, including packing lists, can be found in the Joining Instructions. Please ensure you are checking the correct document for the CTC your cadet is attending.
Please note that from June 13th until June 23rd, CI Pittman will be overseeing the summer training portfolio. Please send any questions to the summer training email address.
If your cadet has not been selected for a course at this time, there is still a chance that they may receive a call up until the day the bus/plane leaves. It is always a good idea to keep their uniform pressed and ready to go. In the past we have had cadets receive an offer to attend just hours before departure. A list of all summer courses, their locations and dates have been posted for your reference.
For the cadets who have been selected, the majority of the travel itineraries have been released and handed out. The MCC may alter travel arrangements at any time. I check for updates no less than 3 times a day, so should any changes be made, you will receive the updated itinerary in a timely manner. That being said, there are times where changes may be made by the MCC at the last minute. If that is the case, myself or the departure/return officer (see next paragraph) will call your phone numbers we have on file until we are able to make contact. All departures and returns will be posted on the squadron calendar. The CTC Joining instructions have also been posted to the squadron website here.
Every departure and return will have a squadron staff member assigned. The staff member will call you at least 2 days prior to departure to confirm the travel details. The staff member will also be present to ensure all cadets are accounted for and to provide updates to parents/guardians. It is imperative that cadets sign in with the staff member. The staff member will also distribute the original course offers to the cadets before they board the bus/plane. The original signed course offer is required to attend the CTC.
For those travelling by bus, please arrive at the location at least 30 minutes prior to the departure time. For those travelling by plane, please arrive 90 minutes prior to the departure time.
Lastly, we would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your patience throughout this process. We hope your cadets have enjoyable summer, and look forward to seeing them in the new training year.
New staff positions available. Please email Summer training officer if you are interested no later than February 17. The new positions are:
Please note Pipes and Drums - Basic Musician has been added to the list. If you have already submitted your choices and would like to change one of them for this course, please send an email to email@example.com with the subject: "Course Change Request" and advise your new top 3 choices.
All parents of cadets interested in Summer training "quota" courses are invited to one of two information sessions where we will explain the options available, how the selection process works, respond to any questions you may have. If your son or daughter is applying for a summer course, this mandatory information session aims to ensure everyone has the same information and equal opportunity to apply for a course. The sessions will be held Thursday, January 31, 2019 and Thursday, February 7, 2019 from 1900 to 2000 in the Library at St. Andrew School. The application form is now available on our website, and cadets are invited to apply until Sunday, February 17, 2019.
**We would like to have the majority of applications received by end of day February 10, 2019. The absolute deadline to apply for summer training opportunities is February 17, 2019.
The National Course Selection Process for 2019 has begun. At this time we are accepting intentions to apply for the following courses only:
To submit your choices, navigate to the National Course Info and Application page and fill out the form. To apply for these courses, you must currently be in level 3 and must successfully complete level 3 by the end of this training year. Although completion of level 3 allows you to apply for the national courses, this process is highly competitive and the successful applicants are usually level 4’s and 5’s. Please see the Course Info and Minimum Requirements prior to making your selections to ensure you qualify.
Your choices must be made no later than November 4th, 2018. Any requests after this date will not be accepted. The application process involves multiple steps and will require specific documentation to be provided. We ask that you check your emails daily throughout the process and ensure you reply in a timely manner.
All information regarding Summer Courses will be posted in the Summer Training Section of the 75 Squadron Website. If you have any further questions - send an email to SummerTraining@75aircadets.ca
1. Following the massive arrival of cadets on July 2, 2018, I’d like to provide some clarifications regarding void cheque and the direct deposit form (CDT-130) to be provided by cadets participating in 3 and 6 weeks courses at the Cadet Training Center(CTC).
2. All cadets of the 3 or 6 weeks courses must have in their possession, at their arrival, a void cheque and the direct deposit form (CDT130), even if:
a. the cadet has already been to a CTC;
b. the cadet has already come to the same CTC in previous years;
c. a squadron / corps member has already sent the form by email.
A cadet who does not have a void cheque will be asked to contact a parent to obtain one within the first few days of arrival. The cadet will have to complete the Direct Deposit Form (CDT130) again. The account in which the training allocation will be deposit must be the cadet’s, not the parent’s. In the event of an exception, the CDT130 must still be complete by the cadet with his or her own signature and not the parent’s. It is important that the account be active.
3. Training allocation for 3 and 6 weeks courses will be deposited into the cadet's account at the end of the camp. The cadet can not choose to recover his/ her training allocation in cash. It is neither a choice nor an option. The cadet must have his / her void cheque and CDT130 completed correctly upon arrival.
4. Please note that the Direct Deposit Form (CDT130) must be printed separately from the leave authorization form.
